Taekkyon - Ancient Korean Martial Art
Have you ever heard of Widae Taekkyeon? Taekkyeon, not to be confused with the vastly popular Taekwondo, is Korea's oldest and only actual Indigenous form of martial arts. Although Taekkyeon has resurged in the last 20 years, it was almost completely wiped out during the Japanese Occupation of Korea. During the occupation, it was practiced in a remote location in the mountains of Korea where the last master of Widae Taekkyong, Song Deok-gi, taught two students; one was my grand uncle. His devotion to Widae Taekkyeon is undeniable, as he has spent his entire life as a student of art and teaching as many people as possible.
